Douglas M. Karp, Managing Partner

Mr. Karp joined Tailwind in 2003 and is its Co-Chief Executive. From 2000 to 2003, Mr. Karp was Managing Partner of Pacific Partners LLC, a financial advisory and private equity firm, and an adviser to Aetos Capital, LLC, an investment management firm. From 1991 to 2000, he was a partner at Warburg Pincus, where he was a member of the operating committee. From 1986 to 1991, Mr. Karp worked at Salomon Brothers, where he became a partner in 1989 and chief operating officer of the Mergers & Acquisitions group in 1990. From 1981 to 1986, he was a consultant with Boston Consulting Group, where he opened the company’s New York office.

Mr. Karp is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Yale University, where he received his B.A. degree, summa cum laude, and of Harvard Law School, where he received his J.D. degree, cum laude.

 
 
Lawrence B. Sorrel, Managing Partner

Mr. Sorrel joined Tailwind in 2003 and is its Co-Chief Executive. From 1998 to 2002, Mr. Sorrel was a general partner at Welsh Carson Anderson & Stowe, where he was a member of the management and investment committees. From 1986 to 1998, Mr. Sorrel was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley and its private equity affiliate, Morgan Stanley Capital Partners. At Morgan Stanley Capital Partners, Mr. Sorrel was a member of the investment committee.

He is a graduate of Brown University, where he received his B.A. degree, magna cum laude; of Harvard Law School, where he received his J.D. degree, cum laude; and of the Harvard Business School, where he received his M.B.A.

 
 
James S. Hoch, Managing Partner

Mr. Hoch joined Tailwind in 2003. Prior to Tailwind, Mr. Hoch was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley and its private equity affiliate, Morgan Stanley Capital Partners, where he worked from 1986 to 2002, and from 1982 to 1984. As part of his responsibilities at MSCP, Mr. Hoch led MSCP’s European activities from 1994 to 2000. At Morgan Stanley Capital Partners, Mr. Hoch was a member of the investment committee.

He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Williams College, where he received his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, and of the Harvard Business School, where he received his M.B.A.

 
 
Frank V. Sica, Managing Partner

Mr. Sica joined Tailwind in 2006. From 2004 to 2005, Mr. Sica was a Senior Advisor to Soros Funds Management. From 2000 to 2003, he was the President of Soros Private Fund Management, the management company for Soros private equity and real estate activities, where he headed the investment committee. From 1998 to 2000 Mr. Sica was a Managing Director at Soros Fund Management in charge of private equity activities. From 1988 to 1998, Mr. Sica was a Managing Director at Morgan Stanley and its private equity affiliate, Morgan Stanley Capital Partners. In 1996, Mr. Sica was elevated to Co-CEO of Morgan Stanley’s Merchant Banking Division, whose principal operating unit was MSCP. Prior to 1988, Mr. Sica was a Managing Director in Morgan Stanley’s mergers and acquisitions department. From 1974 to 1977, Mr. Sica was an officer in the U.S. Air Force.

He is a graduate of Wesleyan University, where he received his B.A. degree, and of the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College, where he received his M.B.A.

 
 
David S. Bauman, Managing Director

Mr. Bauman joined Tailwind in 2003. Mr. Bauman has had a successful business career as an executive, entrepreneur, and consultant. Prior to joining Tailwind, he was Executive Vice President, Sales & Marketing at Satmetrix Systems, a venture-backed software company delivering loyalty programs and solutions. Prior to Satmetrix, Mr. Bauman was a turnaround manager on behalf of Texas Pacific Group at the semiconductor manufacturer Zilog, where he led the interim executive committee and helped guide the company’s turnaround, restructuring and recapitalization. From 1998 to 2001, Mr. Bauman was CEO and a founder of the venture-backed online media company Investor Broadcast Network, which was sold in 2001. From 1992 to 1997, Mr. Bauman held executive positions at American Express Company, including initiating and leading the company’s Internet and online efforts as Senior Vice President, Interactive Services Group. Prior to American Express, Mr. Bauman was a consultant and manager with the strategy consulting firm Bain & Company.

He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Stanford University where he received his B.S. and M.S. degrees. He received his M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School with High Distinction (George F. Baker Scholar).

 
 
Mark L. Epstein, Managing Director - Chief Financial Officer

Mr. Epstein joined Tailwind in 2003 and serves as its Chief Financial Officer. Mr. Epstein has held senior management positions with several operating companies, including serving as senior vice president for Vornado Realty Trust, where he had responsibility for development and acquisitions, as chief financial officer and chief operating officer of Numark Industries, which he co-founded, and as the financing partner at The Kaempfer Company, where he developed expertise in project management, financial operations, debt and equity financings and business operations. Prior to business school he was a CPA and senior accountant at Price Waterhouse.

Mr. Epstein is a graduate of Brown University, where he received his B.S. degree. He received his M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.

 
 
Eric J. Haley, Managing Director

Mr. Haley joined Tailwind in 2003. Mr. Haley was previously an Associate at Boston Ventures Management, where he worked on a variety of buyout and growth equity transactions. Prior to Boston Ventures Management, he worked in the Financial Sponsors Group in Morgan Stanley’s investment banking division.

He is a graduate of Bowdoin College, magna cum laude, and he received his M.B.A from the Amos Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College.

 
 
Geoffrey S. Raker, Managing Director

Mr. Raker joined Tailwind in 2003. Mr. Raker has been an investor, advisor and consultant in the healthcare sector for more than 14 years. From 2000-2003, Mr. Raker was a Vice President at Warburg Pincus focused on healthcare. From 1996-2000, Mr. Raker was a Vice President at Morgan Stanley, where he focused on healthcare in the M&A and Public Finance groups. Mr. Raker also has previous experience at Bain & Company.

He is a Phi Beta Kappa graduate of Brown University where he received his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, and he received his M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School.

 
 
Adam F. Stulberger, Managing Director

Mr. Stulberger joined Tailwind in 2003. Mr. Stulberger has been an investor, corporate executive and advisor in the media/communications sector for more than 12 years. Prior to joining Tailwind, he was Chief Development Officer of SpectraSite Communications, where he oversaw mergers & acquisitions, strategic alliances and capital raising, and Chief Financial Officer of SpectraSite Europe, the company’s European subsidiary. Previously, Mr. Stulberger held senior positions at Morgan Stanley and Credit Suisse First Boston, focusing on media and telecommunications investment banking. Earlier in his career, he was a corporate attorney at Wachtell, Lipton,
Rosen & Katz.

He is a graduate of Lafayette College, where he received his B.A. degree, magna cum laude, and of New York University School of Law, where he received his J.D. degree, magna cum laude.

 
 
Cliff Moskowitz, Vice President

Mr. Moskowitz joined Tailwind in 2007. Previously, Mr. Moskowitz was a Consultant at Bain & Company. Prior to Bain & Company, he was an Associate at Saunders Karp & Megrue, where he worked on a variety of buyout and growth equity transactions. Mr. Moskowitz began his career at The Beacon Group, a boutique investment bank and private equity firm, where he focused on middle-market mergers & acquisitions and private equity investments.

Mr. Moskowitz is a graduate of Princeton University, cum laude, and received his M.B.A. from The Wharton School.

 
 
Rahul Vinnakota, Vice President

Mr. Vinnakota joined Tailwind in 2007. Prior to joining Tailwind, Mr. Vinnakota was a Senior Associate at First Atlantic Capital, a middle-market private equity firm, where he evaluated several buyout transactions and worked on a variety of portfolio management projects. Prior to business school, he worked in middle market mergers and acquisitions as an Associate at Watch Hill Partners and at Brown Brothers Harriman. He began his career as a Financial Analyst in J.P. Morgan’s investment banking division.

He is a graduate of Duke University, where he received his A.B degree, cum laude, and of Harvard Business School, where he received his M.B.A.

 
 
Sean Gagnon, Controller

Mr. Gagnon joined Tailwind in 2007 and serves as its Controller. Prior to joining Tailwind, Mr. Gagnon was an audit manager at Eisner LLP. He served clients in various industries including private equity, public (SEC) and private companies including sports, entertainment, pharmaceutical, manufacturing, retail and software. Some of Mr. Gagnon’s clients included Cherokee Investment Partners, GarMark Partners, the New York Jets, Hi-Tech Pharmacal, Co. Inc. and Mediware Information Systems. Mr. Gagnon is a graduate of the State University of New York College at Geneseo, where he received his B.S. degree.

Mr. Gagnon is a licensed CPA in the state of New York and is a member of both the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the New York State Society of Certified Public Accountants (NYSSCPA).

 
 
Jonathan Arkin, Associate

Mr. Arkin has previous experience at Citigroup. He is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School, cum laude.

 
 
Aron Grossman, Associate

Mr. Grossman has previous experience at Houlihan Lokey. He is a graduate of Emory University where he received his B.A. in Economics and Spanish.

 
 
Jonathan Levy, Associate

Mr. Levy has previous experience at Lazard Frères. He is a graduate of Yale University, cum laude.
