Prior to establishing Tailwind in 2003, the firm’s senior partners spent their careers in senior leadership positions engaged in and overseeing investment activity at four of the most successful private equity firms in the industry: Warburg Pincus; Welsh, Carson, Anderson & Stowe; Morgan Stanley Capital Partners; and Soros Private Funds Management. The Tailwind team members have extensive and proven track records making investments in middle-market businesses and creating value through internal growth, acquisitions, and operational and strategic improvements. Over the last 20 years, they collectively have worked closely with dozens of exceptional management teams to help build over 60 successful middle-market companies. 

Tailwind’s 15-person team of dedicated investment professionals focus on private equity investments in middle-market companies primarily in healthcare, media/communications and business services.

In 2003, Tailwind took over the management of the TWCP Funds and subsequently raised its second fund, Tailwind Capital Partners, which it is currently investing. The firm was founded with the objective of bringing the best practices from leading firms to a new organization: one that is entrepreneurial, focused solely on investments in the middle market, and brings hands-on senior attention to each of its portfolio companies.
